90 How Stacey Thompson Started a CSA Farm-ily and Found Her True Calling

January 13, 2021 by Corinna

In this week’s episode, I interview one of my CSA Quickstart students from last year, Stacey Thompson of Our Fiddlehead Farm. Stacey shares how her first true year of CSA completely transformed their farm operation and fueled their tired spirit. You’ll hear how the many benefits of CSA awakened a new “calling” and vocation for both Michael and Stacey — to deeply connect with their “farmily” community. It’s an inspiring interview that is now one of my favorite episodes.

This is why I do what I do for farmers.

If you’ve been thinking about starting a CSA, but you’re wondering what that first year can be like, you’ll definitely want to take a listen!

A Little Bit about Stacey Thompson:

stacey thompsonStacey Thompson co-owns and operates Our Fiddlehead Farm in Clyde, North Carolina with her husband John Michael.  Before setting her sights on a career in agriculture, she had a long fascination with plants, animals, farming, and food to include spending summers on her family farm in Iowa and obtaining a B.S. in Animal Science from Clemson University while John Michael earned a B.S. in Horticulture.  In farming they have found a home for their diverse interests centered around collaborating with sustainable farming neighbors to grow the local foodshed and building a CSA for their community that nourishes both body and soul.
